FAKENHAM MUSEUM TRUST [FAF25]

We are honoured to have a selection of works including the Elemental Effigies and recent work Sources Of Power [5th Element] on show at The Fakenham Museum of Gas and Local History as part of the inaugural Fakenham Arts Festival 2025.  The museum is housed in the town’s former gasworks, which has been granted the status of a Scheduled Ancient Monument, a prestigious and rare distinction for an industrial site and, as such, is a National Treasure, providing an insight into our cultural, social and industrial heritage.  The gas works buildings and the museum collection held within them allow a glimpse into the past where one man, William Murdoch changed everyday living, bringing light to the darkest corners of our country.

The work exhibited in ‘OUT OF DARKNESS’ by THE DnA FACTORY MRSS is created from a variety of reclaimed machine parts mixed with modelled and cast elements and speaks of power, the uses and the abuses of that power; the corporate in relationship to community and the individual.

Fakenham Arts Festival 2025, has been developed by THE DnA FACTORY MRSS and dynamic community group, Active Fakenham, and is the first festival of its kind.  A unique enterprise uniting over 60 venues throughout the town with 50 artists for a three week exhibition whereby the town becomes one enormous gallery.

OUT OF DARKNESS extends past the Arts Festival duration to link in with National Heritage Day.
