As part of Fakenham Arts Festival 2025 we will be showing several works at No.16 Norwich Street, Fakenham Frameworks. Joining THE DnA FACTORY MRSS are the extraordinary talents of Terri Broughton , Shane Hyde and Jamie Andrews in an exhibition touching on works that have been censored, caused controversy or been banned at some time in their existence. This exhibition has a parental guidance consideration.
Our work in show is a descendant of a sell-out exhibition ’The Pearly Miniatures’ at a notable London University in 2003. The show was closed down within 24 hours due to immense pressure on the faculty by incensed and outraged administrative staff, despite massive support from the academic staff and visiting lecturers; a now classic LCD situation and a first for us. Later exhibitions consisting of the same or similar works received no such lavish response, rather they were understood both within the concept of the visual language, the craftsmanship and the all important message. Although some of the work here is over twenty years old, the subject matter remains as pertinent, if not more so, in these current tumultuous times.
Fakenham Arts Festival 2025, has been developed by THE DnA FACTORY MRSS and dynamic community group, Active Fakenham, and is the first festival of it’s kind. A unique enterprise uniting over 60 venues throughout the town with 50 artists for a three week exhibition whereby the town becomes one enormous gallery.
Alongside this exhibition THE DnA FACTORY MRSS are showing further works, of a slightly different flavour at The Fakenham Museum of Gas and Local History on the Hempton Road from August 1st to September 22nd 2025 under the title ‘OUT OF DARKNESS’.
