AESTHETICA ART PRIZE EXHIBITION 2024

Selected works by THE DnA FACTORY MRSS are to be featured as part of a compilation film of long listed artists in the Aesthetica Art Prize Exhibition, launching at the Future Now Symposium on February 15th 2024 and continuing until April 21st 2024.
The exhibition presents 21 artists from across the world, each using creativity as a powerful means of expression. From installation and sculpture, to digital art and film, these works inspire a response to challenges facing us right now; reminding us that the connection between artist and viewer can drive transformation, fostering empathy and understanding. The display moves between digital and analogue media, confronting the most crucial topics of today.

The Future Now Symposium brings together award-winning artists for talks that engage with themes from our changing world. Day one, Turner-prize nominee Heather Phillipson will talk about her practice with multimedia projects, spanning video, sculpture, installation, music, poetry and digital art. Hannah Lim will discuss her ornamental sculptures that explore Chinoiserie, feminism and multicultural backgrounds and Marcus Lyon will also discuss his project Human Atlas, sharing what it means to make research-based art that taps into the intersections of science, anthropology and photography. Day two opens with insights from creatives Hope Strickland, Sadie Clayton, Larry Achiampong and Yuri Suzuki. The panel will talk about what it means to be an artist today, thinking in particular about topics of resilience and funding. Margaret Salmon shares her insight behind her award-winning filmic portraits and cinematic inspirations. Julianknxx explores themes of multi-disciplinary practice and belonging, whilst Steve Messam considers how site-specific artworks can transform our perceptions of place.

The Aesthetica Art Prize celebrates contemporary art across a range of media, exhibiting and championing some of the world’s most significant talent and contributing towards a global dialogue around today’s creative practices. Aesthetica is part of the UNESCO City of Media Arts network.

‘Art has the power to unite and transform,’ says Cherie Federico, Director of Aesthetica ‘It takes us to new places and introduces us to new cultures; most importantly, it reminds us of our humanity.’
